Helping users quickly grasp the health of their data pipelines with a clear, at-a-glance data visualization

This design effort was part of a broader initiative to introduce an official landing page, which was aimed to give users a high-level overview of their account and better navigation pathways to key areas of the product.
Survey data showed that 36% of users (n=448) log in primarily to “check the status of my connectors” — it was the top reason cited. This insight guided my focus: make the system status immediately visible.
To do this effectively, we leaned into data visualization. We knew that great landing pages in other data products - especially observability tools - rely on visual summaries to make complex systems easy to grasp. I aimed to create a single visual snapshot that clearly communicates the health of key objects: connections, destinations, and transformations.
1 - As a user, I want to see a visual summary to understand the status of key objects (connections, destinations, and transformations) when I log in, so that I can monitor the health of my data pipelines.
2 - As a user, I want to be aware of any broken objects as soon as I log in, so that I can prioritize fixing the issues first.

Note: As part of MVP, we had to cut transformations, due to dependencies on another effort to update how the transformations are structured and stored in the backend.
“I like the quick glance…I’d check, this is where we’re at with Fivetran and ensure that nothing is crazy, like if half of these are broken… The amount of clicking through the platform did reduce.”
“It used to be like I had to go to different places to see what I wanted. Now, the dashboard contains more information, and it's easy to see things.”
“It's great and gives a bird eye of everything”
